Decorating a Gorgeous Hamptons Home

Marilyn Rose Interiors is in the midst of finishing up the decor for a client’s gorgeous Hamptons house. We don’t love doing homes in a “theme,” and this client didn’t want a “beach-themed” home with seashells or starfish all over – so it was a win-win situation!

We opted to go with soft, layered neutrals throughout the living space. We began by painting the walls a dove gray with bright white trim. All of the fabric selections were in various shades of taupe and gray that complemented each other and allowed the view out the large windows to be the star.

We selected classic furniture shapes (tufted sofas, a wing chair) but used more transitional fabrics on the chair and pillows the keep the space fresh. The cocktail table’s frame is nice and substantial, but the glass top keeps it light enough to complement the space.

My favorite element of this room is the little seating nooks – perfect for a party, and another way to add pretty fabrics to the space!

Our goal when decorating this room was to keep it sophisticated and livable, without giving it an over-the-top beachy theme. We’re excited to finish this project and post more photos!
